Conroe Show Ribbons and TKR update

Image
One of my local guilds, Golden Needles in Conroe, TX  had their show a few weeks ago.   You may remember that their show was scheduled for last year but Hurricane Harvey had other plans.  Our quilts were judged but never hung as the convention center was being used as a shelter.   Sad that those awesome quilts were never on display!   We were able to re-book for this year but only had a year to make new quilts!   Members still pulled off a beautiful display of amazing quilts, the entire show and live auction was awesome. Personally, My Fade To Purple got a 1st place ribbon and Gravity placed 2nd in the same Modern category - all sizes.   Yeah!   Gravity has finally shown in all 3 of my guilds that I am a member of that hosts their own show (modern is too small and no show) /  She finally gets to be hung back in front of my custom longarm machine.   I took it down last fall, it hung at Houston in the T...

Recent Show Ribbon Winners

Several shows have occurred recently that  clients or myself  entered quilts.   Several quilts took top honors!!       Lou Ellen Hassold's "Star Bright", quilted by me took BEST OF SHOW @ Golden Needles, 1st place medium pieced and a 1st place at Brazos Bluebonnet Quilt Guild Show and another top award for Best Piecing at BBQG.  It also received a sponsor ribbon from Sew N Vac.  Congratulations Lou Ellen.   I'm so honored to have had a part in your vision for this quilt.    I'm also blown away that I have quilted 3 different quilts that have taken guild shows top honor of Best of Show!  No, that is not dotted fabric, that is approx. 4000 crystals applied to the quilt!     The show has already taken down their posts about this... I did not save a picture from the big winner's list!    Kathryn Zimmerman's "Dogwood Winter" quilted by me took " Outstanding Machine W...

Joy of Quilts 2017

Image
I went to the Quilt Guild of Greater Houston's quilt show... Joy of Quilts today.   It was a lovely show and I had a few quilts hanging with my name attached as my own or quilted by me.   A couple of these have not been blogged about yet so this is the first you will have seen them. Let's just start with the best.   1st place!  Pieced Wallhanging - Large.   Lou Ellen Hassold's "Star Bright quilted by me!   Lou Ellen had a vision for this quilt and thankfully I was able to step up to the challenge.       2nd Place - Group Quilt - Pam Heine  Double 4 Patch.   This one makes me really happy as this is an e2e design.   I think our shows need to include a category for e2e quilts because they may be impecabbly pieced and have great color composition but if they are not quilted to death they lose points to those more elaborately quilted pieces.     ...

St Marys Quilt Show 2017

Image
This is the 3rd annual event St Mary's Catholic church has held and next year's dates are already scheduled as a 3 day event instead of 2.   Visit their site to learn more about the show and see photos of the beautiful grounds, the vendors, the café, the outdoor pavilion.   The painted church and the quilts makes for a lovely day trip.  Check their website HERE . It has been so exciting to see that a client's quilt graced the altar again this year at the show!  Kathy Yeldezian's Sedona Star.    Not only front and center, but another client's quilt hung off the banisters center stage as you were leaving the church.  Lou Ellen Hassold's Paradise in Blooms.  Both of those quilts were awarded Sponsor ribbons (businesses donate a certain amount of money to help fund expenses with the show then they get the privilege to pin a ribbon on any quilt of their choosing as their favorite for whatever reason in the show)....
