Reflections on 2013

I did not get to work on as many of my UFO's as I had planned nor did I finish by Bali Wedding Star but it is on the long arm table, design board, sewing machine... just all over the place right now.   Maybe by the end of next week it will be a flimsy!  I did take several classes (maybe too many) this year offered through the 3 guilds that I belong to and NONE of them are finished.  I really need to stop juggling so many projects, it makes me nuts!  But when incredibly talented, nationally acclaimed teachers are scheduled for our guild meetings, I just have to participate.   Being in the Houston area, our guilds get some of the best.  Also, some of my most fun work is in custom quilting YOUR finished tops.   But this post reflects on my  finishes , some that had been UFO's for years that I am especially happy to have gotten quilted and bound this year. Bloggers Quilt Festival Spring 2013

Image
I'm entering my favorite quilt that I've made the past 6 months into  Amy's Bloggers Quilt Festival . As usual, there are so many pretty quilts on display there!   If you have not visited there already, grab your favorite beverage and browse the quilts and quilters blogs.  This one is called "Fracture" and I made it for one of my granddaughters that fractured a bone in her foot during a gymnastic event.   She's doing well and loving the quilt!   This was my first attempt to quilt something with a modern quilting theme and I loved quilting it, seeing it, touching it....        Backside, I can't believe I was able to match up the quilting so close to that design line!     This will be entered into the "throw" quilt category.       Be sure to visit their site!

My chevron quilt "Fracture"

I'm going to post pictures of this little quilt that I made for one of my granddaughters.   I don't think I have any family that reads my blog... none are quilters so looking at this stuff ranks right up there with reading tax codes or something similar for them.   Anyway, my sweet, talented and immensely dedicated granddaughter Laura fractured her foot @ a gymnastics meet a couple of weeks ago so I made this comfort quilt for her.  I really had fun playing with this style of quilting and look forward to working on more.     These 2 pictures are backside.

It's off the frame.   I just had to share a quick pic of the backside...   I'm so thrilled that the quilting lined up better than I had hoped with the design on the backside!   Meanwhile, back to working on the binding.

HST fun....next will be some quilting fun!

This little chevron quilt is finished and will be loaded on the frame for some quilting fun tomorrow!
