Painted Summer

Image
This lovely client quilt was made by Darcey using Jason Yenter fabrics and his pattern "Painted Summer".  I love this quilt!   We choose a light custom for this.  Busy fabrics can be difficult to showcase quilting.  I found that more space in my designs allowed it to pop on these fabrics. The more dense I got, the designs got lost.  I'm away working from my phone.   Lots of photos!   oh!  Another special moment.  Darcey lives in Alaska and saw my work online.  Thank you for trusting me with your special quilt.  Lots of photos.

Amish With A Twist II

Such a pretty quilt.   Can you believe this is the FIRST quilt Paula ever made?  This quilt is on my bucket list too.  I had admired one hanging in a local quilt shop.   This is a big 105" quilt. She  decided to have the borders and center star area custom quilted and then chose a feathery swirl allover design for the interior of the quilt.   Great job Paula!  I can't wait to see what she does for her second quilt.

My Ohio Star Challenge Quilt

This challenge was issued by one of my longarm groups in May, due Saturday 11/15.  I realized in September that I had something planned every weekend and I wasn't going to be able to get anything done.  Then the last weekend of Quilt Festival I realized if I skipped 2 days there I could make the top and then make allow myself one day to quilt it!  Simply,  but I would have an entry. These are big borders,  cut 8.5" and 3.5"!  I wasn't going to have time to do anything fancy.  I thought, why don't I do a busy fabric for the borders.   Piano key the borders, quilt feather wreaths in the blocks and be done.  I pulled this awesome floral that I had yardage in and realized I had perfect solids to go with it left over from my other challenge!   But as I got into it, I decided to take the challenge further.  I would use the solids and quilt 2 of my weak points.  Variegated thread and standard longarm feathers.  Where you just keep going,  no matter where you are.  I pre

I'm A Little Rusty

It's almost complete!   Waiting for binding, which I hope will take place tonight.   This was a Charlotte Angotti mystery class I took with The Woodlands Area Quilt Guild, hmmmm closing in on 2 years ago?!     My personal sewing time is so limited.  It's sad that my time has to be last but you do what you have to do!   I enjoy longarming for others most of the time (LOL!) and family matters come before sewing time as well.   I know many of you that work and have children at home know exactly where I'm coming from.       It's almost bed sized.   I really needed to add another row of blocks to each side plus this border to get a good 100" quilt like I prefer for a bed quilt.    I realized too that I omitted the gray sashings that came with this class kit.   Those sashings would have brought it up closer to a bed size too!   Drat.   But, they were a lovely gray and nothing seemed to work from my stash with that gray.   Without the sashings, I real
