Bloggers Quilt Festival Fall 2015 - Applique Category

Image
This is my 2nd entry into Amy's Bloggers Quilt Festival , for applique.   This was made by Kathy and quilted by me.   Commercial pattern called Sedona Star.   This was so much fun to quilt and her backing made it an excellent showcase of the quilting.   Matching threads on top only show in dimension but WOW - when viewed from the back.   The bright colors, pretty applique and the detail in the quilting work together to create one awesome quilt.        Go view the quilts and vote!

I have a few minutes to re-post about this quilt and enter it in Amy's Bloggers Quilt Festival .   There are always so many pretty quilts to look at.   You get to nominate your favs for viewers choice and then come back later and vote for your favorite quilts.    It's always interesting to see the quilts and which ones place. I have to choose this quilt, Lou Ann's Paradise in Blooms for Large Quilt.    It's one of my favorite quilts (I do have several others!)  that I quilted during the past 6 months and I love it dearly.  The size is about 100 X 100.     Lou Ann and I are belong to a group called "What Was I Thinking" where we work 1X a month together on paper piece projects as well as attend 2 retreats each year to work on these.    Go view the quilts and vote!

Here are some fun, scrappy or novelty fabric quilts by clients that I've quilted recently.       Quilted with Denise Spirals hand guided panto.   Notice on the busy fabrics the  design shows through behind the fabrics and your eye readily determines that there is a spiral design quilted.  My first choice for busy fabrics is a one motif type design that is not too large.  This quilt showcases exactly why I like those.  Even in the photo, you can see the design stand out a little in the dark border.   Backing was busy also .   Busy makes for great daily use quilts.   I love a nice scrappy quilt also.  They do present quilting design challenges.    I love my Innova!  Quilts load  flat and square so easily compared to my HQ.     Wonderful, large, little boy quilt.   Very busy fabrics.     Client opted for very light custom, loops or stipple in each element.    Several of these fabrics could handle heavy quilting and would shine, but that bumps up q

This is such a fun guy quilt!  Pat personalized this for her husband,  even including some vehicle registration from the 50 ' s in the blocks.   The brown embroidery is done by hand.  Her only request was to create blowing wind in the sky.   I worried I made it too windy but she loved it.  A Christmas present for her hubby.  I really love what she did here too, it's an awesome quilt.
