Bloggers Quilt Festival Fall 2015 - Applique Category

Image
This is my 2nd entry into Amy's Bloggers Quilt Festival , for applique.   This was made by Kathy and quilted by me.   Commercial pattern called Sedona Star.   This was so much fun to quilt and her backing made it an excellent showcase of the quilting.   Matching threads on top only show in dimension but WOW - when viewed from the back.   The bright colors, pretty applique and the detail in the quilting work together to create one awesome quilt.        Go view the quilts and vote!

Bloggers Quilt Festival - Fall 2015 Large Quilt Category

Image
I have a few minutes to re-post about this quilt and enter it in Amy's Bloggers Quilt Festival .   There are always so many pretty quilts to look at.   You get to nominate your favs for viewers choice and then come back later and vote for your favorite quilts.    It's always interesting to see the quilts and which ones place. I have to choose this quilt, Lou Ann's Paradise in Blooms for Large Quilt.    It's one of my favorite quilts (I do have several others!)  that I quilted during the past 6 months and I love it dearly.  The size is about 100 X 100.     Lou Ann and I are belong to a group called "What Was I Thinking" where we work 1X a month together on paper piece projects as well as attend 2 retreats each year to work on these.    Go view the quilts and vote!

Blogger's Quilt Festival 2nd entry - Rosewood Cottage

Image
My 2nd entry will be in the applique division @ Blogger's Quilt Festival and is called "Rosewood Cottage" based on the name of the pattern.    I had lots of fun piecing and machine appliquéing these fun blocks.   The top was completed in 2006 but I only recently found time to quilt and also make the perfect backing for this quilt.     2nd place at local show - applique     Be sure to visit the site and vote for your favorite quilt!

Blogger's Quilt Festival Spring 2015 - Happy Medium

Image
My first entry is my Bali Wedding Star quilt which I named "Happy Medium".    You can read about the event here .  This quilt will be entered in the LARGE category and measures approx. 99x99. This was my 2nd Judy Niemeyer pattern to purchase and my 1st one to finally complete.    I'm currently working on my 4th Judy quilt right now (Paradise in Bloom)!    I really had a time crunch during the time I started this quilt and only found small windows of time to piece.   It took me almost 2.5 years to piece and finish this quilt.  During this time,  a group of us over several counties came together and created a once a month group called "What Was I Thinking" where we worked on these detailed paper piecing quilts.  These are my closest friends today!  I am happy to re-post some photos of this quilt for the festival. Real Piped binding too!     unquilted top Quilting in...

Bloggers Quilt Festival - Quilt #2

Image
I am entering "Wonky Donkey" into the baby quilt category for Amy's Bloggers Quilt Festival    IF the system will let me.  The entry dates end today... and something has closed all the links on her site.   Keeping my fingers crossed that I can get these added before I head off into wireless land for a wonderful getaway to celebrate my hubby's birthday. Wonky Donkey was just finished recently for my soon to be first grandson.  From a household of 4 boys, 4 granddaughters and now the first grandson!   You can find info on the original post on my blog.
