Kris & Myka's wedding

Image
Kris and Myka took that leap and set a wedding date for 5.15.15!   I think they took a cue from us with our wedding date of October 10th!   They have been living together for a number of years and even have our grandson to show for that but they had reached that point where the next step was important to them.   We quickly helped pull together what we hope was a memorable and cherished day for them.   In San Diego, you can apply for a certificate to perform a wedding, one time, that day only.  Timing was close but we were able to get that submitted and recorded.  His father performed the ceremony and we all helped write the vows.  We are on about 30 days of rain in Texas, of course we took that to San Diego with us  The first 2 days had flash flood warnings and pouring rain.   They originally had an outdoor beach front wedding planned and the rain had us scrambling to find another venue.   They settled on an indoor area that the restaurant offered where we were holding a dinner after …

Blogger's Quilt Festival 2nd entry - Rosewood Cottage

Image
My 2nd entry will be in the applique division @ Blogger's Quilt Festival and is called "Rosewood Cottage" based on the name of the pattern.    I had lots of fun piecing and machine appliquéing these fun blocks.   The top was completed in 2006 but I only recently found time to quilt and also make the perfect backing for this quilt.

Blogger's Quilt Festival Spring 2015 - Happy Medium

Image
My first entry is my Bali Wedding Star quilt which I named "Happy Medium".    You can read about the event here.  This quilt will be entered in the LARGE category and measures approx. 99x99.

This was my 2nd Judy Niemeyer pattern to purchase and my 1st one to finally complete.    I'm currently working on my 4th Judy quilt right now (Paradise in Bloom)!    I really had a time crunch during the time I started this quilt and only found small windows of time to piece.   It took me almost 2.5 years to piece and finish this quilt.  During this time,  a group of us over several counties came together and created a once a month group called "What Was I Thinking" where we worked on these detailed paper piecing quilts.  These are my closest friends today!  I am happy to re-post some photos of this quilt for the festival.

Real Piped binding too!

Leukemia and Lymphoma Society benefit

Image
My oldest son is an oncologist  and he has been challenged to participate in the "LLS Man of the Year" campaign.   Which really means you can become "man of the year" IF you get the most contributions.  To help him with his fundraising, I have donated one of my personal quilts, Desert Sky.  As part of his Benefit Concert to raise funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) next week, he will be hosting a silent auction for this quilt.   You can bid for it on his facebook page.   I'm not sure the link will work, but if you want to bid, contact me and we will make sure you can do this!  Larry Anderson Jr. on Facebook.  Bidding ends 8pm central on 5/21/15.

I'll have to get busy and make another one for me.   I'm happy I had something on hand that people would have an interest in!   My longarm is still several weeks from delivery so no way I could make up something just for the event.     Good Luck with your campaign Larry and goodbye Desert Sky.   …
