Isn't this quilt gorgeous?!   I love those blues and the compass units really remind me of sunflowers. I have been curious for a while to try the digitized Quiltworx designs for some of her patterns.  So far I have done a Prismatic Star and Rocky Mountain Bear Claw.   Rocky Mountain made me realize sometimes there can be more work setting up before the first stitch is taken... and that I could freehand a design just in the amount of time required to mark the boundaries of that unit in the computer so that I can fit a design inside that area.   SMH.  But edge to edge designs are the same way, as you work with them (handguided or computer), you learn which ones will stitch out no fuss and which ones will require extra time to match up designs across your quilt so you can make better decisions about what can be accomplished in a reasonable amount of time.  Anyway, several clients left me quilts last year for when I was...

Yes, I have been trying to teach myself how to use the custom quilting features of my Innova Mach 3 Auto Pilot computer system!   I'm jumping out of order and showing this one that uses some set in blocks and borders.   This is an adorable guild quilt for donation somewhere.   The fabrics used were so cute and PINK!   I love pink.       These were a actually X and O block with hearts, except on these busy fabrics they really did not read that way.   I used a flaming heart border and a modified block  for the cornerstones.   This was my first real quilt using set in blocks and a border.  No ditching, only computer guided designs.   I think it turned out really cute.     As usual, so many times we  deal with situations that make the task harder on these charity quilts!   Barely squeezed it in there on that backing.  Normally I l...

Here is one of my new favorite designs, stitched out on Sally's fun quilt.   I do not know the fabric line, fun modern fabrics that screamed for some type of geometric quilting.  This design is called Bubbles b2b (border to border) by Anne Bright.    It is awesome!   Well to me anyway.   I've already used this one on another quilt and look forward to using it on your quilt.   The really nice thing about using a digitized design, is that it can be resized smaller or larger to fit the scale of your project.   I could not do that with hand guided pantos.    Of course I could not do backtracking circles with hand guilded either!   So naturally, this one is a favorite of mine.   Not too dense, good coverage and very interesting across solids or busy fabrics. More computerized edge to edge quilting by Pamela and Pat.   This first one is a really big 120" scrappy quilt by Pamela that I did not even try to get all in the photos!  Thimbleberries patterns come to mind but I don't know if this was a specific pattern or blocks she put together herself.   I used" bd 2010 pano 001"  by Sweet Dreams Quilt Studio.    Before quilting, on the frame Back view.   I love this design but it is a monster to stitch out at this large size of quilt.   The pattern was sized at 18" and stitched up and down until it completed one row.  Because of this stitch pattern and large quilt, I could not complete one pass on one bobbin of thread.   It took TWO bobbins per pass to complete.    I don't think I have ever run a panto that used 14 bobbins of thread before.   I'll maybe try this on a smaller quilt with pre-wound 60 wt bobbins, other...
