Thread Tales From A Scrappy Quilter

One of my oldest and dearest friends is expecting twin Grandbaby boys in what is now just a few weeks away.   She was here recently and I explained that I did not have time for piecing, but maybe we could find a cute panel that I could simply add borders to and quilt.   We went shopping at my favorite local quilt shop which happens to have a huge selection of panels.   Her 2nd panel she looked at was the one.  She looked no further on the rack.   It even came in 2 colorways  so she opted to do one of each.   I pieced the backing so that we could load these side by side and quilt both at the same time.  Twin quilting for the twin quilts!     Black backing     Yippee Ki Yay pantograph by Patricia Ritter, quilted with Mach3Auto Pilot, computerized quilting by Bob and me.   We are both learning the system together but ultimately, we are looking at Bob taking over the edge to e...

Sweet little baby quilt made by Margaret.  Fun one to quilt.

Just a "dragger" quilt for the youngest grandson Kaiden.  His dad called recently with a request for blankies and quilts that it would be OK to abuse.  Oh those special words a quilting Grandma wants to hear, we need more quilts!  Simple piecing and quilting,  minkee backing.  Oh my gosh it feels so cuddly....  I think I need one too.

A quick baby quilt using a panel and adding a very simple border.  Baby's name was also sewn onto the stuffed dog in the panel print.  Animals had bandanas on and the bear in the flannel backing wears a bandana so I used blue and red bandana prints for the border.  Binding in a coordinating blue denim flannel.   Puff poly batting.  Colors for baby are blue, red and tan  so this matches fairly well and they will love the theme called "Two by Two" Quilted with hand guided panto "dazzle".

Life is beginning to return to "normal" if there can be anything called normal in our household!   The lack of entries since August represents hectic days moving the family from Florida to Texas while hubby was deployed to Afghanistan.   I'm still amazed I was able to get so much done so quickly but quilting really had to be placed on hold.   Downsizing in all aspects, including the 3 car garage with workshop that my hubby had filled almost floor to ceiling to a basic builders' 2 car garage/1 large door and no space to either side of that door.  We still have this garage packed in boxes with things that don't fit inside and a storage space rented to deal with at some future date.  Christmas came and went, hubby arrived home in time for Christmas (and loves the house!) along with a house full of family followed by weeks of all of us coming down with a very nasty virus.   Whew.  On to recovery and back to quilting!...
