We saw President Obama's plane today!  What a perfect day for a  picnic too.  Even more amazing, as Bob and I strolled to the spot we picked for our lunch, we noticed a wedding taking place.  As we got near, we realized it was Bob's big boss, the commander of the medical unit!   They chose this spot to get married because her hubby proposed to her at the location  Awwwwww......    Just a few pics to share:

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Mele Kalikimaka - Merry Christmas. The words "Mele Kalikimaka" are a phonetic translation. When the missionaries and other Westerners first brought the custom of Christmas to the islands the Hawaiians had difficulty pronouncing Merry Christmas and turned it into words that rolled more easily off their tongues.  The hawaiian language did not have a word for Christ.

Hau'oli Makahiki Hou - Happy New Year. The western Christmas and New Year fell during this same time of the year that the Hawaiians traditionally honored the earth for giving them plenty to eat. This period of resting and feasting was called Makahiki (mah-kah-HEE- kee). It lasted for 4 months, and no wars or conflicts were allowed during this time. Because makahiki also means "year", the Hawaiian phrase for "Happy New Year" became "Hau'oli (happy) Makahiki (year) Hou (new)"(how-OH-lee mah-kah-hee-kee).

I got my NEW camera a few weeks ago and…

24 days 'till Christmas!

Just a few more pictures to post while I have some free time.  Bob also took some cool pics of a full rainbow and a submarine on his cell phone which came out decent.  I made some Advent gift bags to adorn our Christmas Tree and the boys are busy assembling the tree now.  More pics to past later tonight of their progress.

One of those rare complete rainbows!  Too bad view is of parkling lot LOL!

US submarine Bob happened to see on the surface leaving Pearl Harbor.

Japanese sub Bob saw on another day.  Strange, Japanese submarine steaming INTO Pearl Harbor!

These are Advent bags I made up today for our tree.
Each day contains chocolates, some small surpises, Bible verse and an ornament for the tree.

Done!  As the bags are opened, the ornament will be placed on the tree.  Lights are bright multicolor which are not showing true to color in the pic.  Close quarters but it fits!

A day would not be complete without Mick and a bug....
